Inkmate.

The marketplace for illustrators and visual storytellers

Find your next illustration project.

Illustrators show portfolios, unpublished work and project pitches. Publishers, authors, agents and brands say exactly who and what they are looking for. When both sides say yes, you start talking.

Picture books · Covers · Graphic novels · Editorial · Branding · Packaging

No cold pitching. Clients reach out first after a mutual match, so illustrators never have to chase.

How a project starts

Swipe, match, talk — no cold emails, no portfolio spam.

1Client briefExample

Watercolour, 4–7 age range, 32-page picture book / cover / graphic novel. Budget 2–3 k €.

2You

Swipe through illustrators or briefs and mark the ones that fit.

3Match

When both sides say yes, a match is made and a chat can start.

4Chat

The client sends the first message. The illustrator replies when they are ready.

For illustrators

  • Briefs that are looking for exactly your style and medium.
  • Pitch a project idea, not just show finished portfolio pieces.
  • Clients contact you first after a mutual match — no cold outreach.
  • Every upload can carry your watermark so your work stays protected.

For clients

  • Describe what you need and the system shortlists relevant illustrators.
  • Filter by illustration type, availability and region (EU / non-EU).
  • You start the conversation once both sides match — no inbox noise.
  • Uploads are watermarked; manuscript excerpts are copy-blocked.
Pitch the idea

A portfolio shows what you did. A pitch shows what you want to do next.

Inkmate is not a job board. Illustrators can add a short pitch — a title, a one-line hook and a few sample spreads — for a picture book, cover, graphic novel or any visual project, so the right client sees the idea before anyone else.

“The Bear Who Forgot Hibernation”

A warm, slightly silly 32-page concept for ages 4–7, exploring bedtime routines and seasonal change. Could become a picture book, cover series or editorial package. Looking for a publisher or co-author.
